The secondary phase of scrap rubber processing requires precision slicing to reduce large tire sections into manageable sizes. The waste tire strip cutting machine is engineered specifically for this task. Positioned immediately after initial dismantling, it handles tire sidewalls and crowns that have already had their steel bead rims removed by a tire sidewall cutter.

As a core component of semi-automatic tire recycling equipment setups, this slitting unit reduces manual labor while standardizing the size of the rubber output, ensuring stable feeding for downstream shredding or chunking processes.

Mechanical Drive and Powertrain

Processing high-tensile steel wire tires (up to 1200mm in diameter) requires high torque rather than brute horsepower. The Shuliy tyre strip cutting machine operates on a highly efficient 5.5 KW electric motor.

Instead of driving the cutting blades directly, the motor is connected via belts to a heavy-duty gearbox reducer. This setup lowers the main axis rotation speed to exactly 45 r/min. This low-speed, high-torque configuration prevents the tyre cutter machine from stalling when encountering dense steel wire meshes embedded in the rubber. The entire powertrain is mounted on an 850 kg welded steel base to absorb operational vibrations and maintain blade alignment.

Rotary Shear System and Consumables

The cutting mechanism of this rubber strip cutter relies on an upper and lower circular knife assembly (rotary shear). These dual circular knives are forged from specialized hard alloys designed to withstand consecutive cuts through vulcanized rubber and steel wire chords.

A primary engineering advantage of this system is its low consumable cost. As the circular blades wear down from processing steel tires, operators do not need to replace them immediately. The blades are designed with sufficient thickness to be removed, resharpened via a grinder, and reinstalled repeatedly.

Integration with Downstream Rubber Powder Production

The machine features adjustable blade spacing, allowing operators to set the output strip width between 3 cm and 5 cm. Functioning as a tire sidewall to strip slitter, this adjustability is critical for the whole tire recycling line integration.

By standardizing the width of the output strips to 5 cm, the rubber materials are dimensionally optimized to be fed directly into a [Tire Block Cutting Machine].
